We are glad you are here and hope to make you feel more comfortable. If this is your first time at Zion, below are a few things you may be wondering about.
Each service lasts about one hour. Don't worry about your children making noise in church. We would be more concerned if they didn't. Our congregation is blessed with many children, and we love all the sounds they make while offering their praise to God! But if you feel you need a break, there is a nursery in the rear of the sanctuary with volumed controlled speakers to hear the service.
The Lutheran Service book, or hymnal, is our guide for service. There is also a printed bulletin available to direct you to the hymns and readings for the day.
During Divine Service, we have the joy and privilege of celebrating the Sacrament of the Altar. We do so with the confidence that we receive into our mouths not only bread and wine, but our Lord’s body and blood to eat and drink for the forgiveness of our sins and to strengthen our union with Him and one another. Our Lord invites to His table those who trust and believe His words, repent of all sin, and forgive others their trespasses as we are forgiven and loved by Christ. As each individual communes, witness is also given to a unity/oneness in doctrine by those who receive the Sacrament together. All confirmed members in active/good standing of LCMS congregations are welcome to commune; yet we ask other guests desiring to commune to kindly speak with Pastor about scheduling a time to visit about how you too may receive these gifts. The practice of closed communion has been the way of Christ’s people since the time of the Apostles. Thank you for honoring our beliefs. Please speak with Pastor about these special communion needs.
